RNRL in fray to hire LPG terminal

Anil Ambani firm RNRL has joined the fray to lease Ratnagiri Gas and Power's liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.

Ratnagiri Gas & Power MD AK Ahuja told ET: "Eight companies, including RNRL, have submitted expression of interest (EoI). We will invite bids in a couple of months." Other contenders include RIL, NTPC, Indian Oil, GMR and Essar Oil. Mr Ahuja said the LNG terminal, which is adjacent to the company's power plant in Maharashtra, may be leased out to more than one contender.

Ratnagiri Power will operate and maintain the terminal for the re-gasification, while the winning bidder will manage transportation and distribution. The terminal will have an initial capacity of one million tonne by October that is expected to increase by five-fold in three years.
